Chicago, Ill.- UIC sophomore forward Kevin Stoll (Florissant, Mo./Chaminade Prep) was named the Horizon League Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 2, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Stoll scored a goal and assisted on three others over the weekend, having a hand in all four of the Flames' tallies during a pair of 2-1 victories that clinched the 2008 Horizon League regular season championship for UIC.
He assisted on Baggio Husidic's equalizer and Derek Huffman's game-winner against Valparaiso on Oct. 31 before scoring the opening marker and setting up Pat McMahon's critical insurance tally in the Flames' title-clinching match over Loyola on Nov. 2.
Stoll now has five goals, five assists and 15 points for the season. His 2008 output in all three categories are single-season career bests.
The Horizon League Player of the Week award is the first of Stoll's career. It also marks the fourth time a UIC player has been named the league's player of the week in 2008, with junior midfielder Baggio Husidic earning the recognition twice this year and junior goalkeeper Jovan Bubonja getting a nod as well.
The Flames are back in action on Nov. 14 in the semifinals of the 2008 Horizon League Men's Soccer Championship presented by U.S. Army at Flames Field.
