ATLANTA- Prior to the UIC men's basketball team's 66-60 victory over Georgia Tech this past Sunday, a group of UIC alumni and fans from the Atlanta area, including three former UIC student-athletes, gathered for a reunion luncheon.
UIC Director of Athletics Jim Schmidt and UIC Athletics administrators and staff, along with University of Illinois Alumni Association President Loren Taylor, joined a group of loyal UIC alums and friends that included former softball player Dee Koscik, former basketball player Maria Galati and former swimming and diving competitor Laura Madden.
The group enjoyed a special pre-game party before heading to Alexander Memorial Coliseum to watch UIC defeat the Yellow Jackets.
"It was a great prelude to a great victory for the Flames," said Schmidt. "We have an excellent base of alumni and fans in the Atlanta area who are very supportive of UIC Athletics."
