Chicago, Ill. - The UIC softball team suffered a setback in the 2008 Horizon League Tournament on Friday afternoon, falling to Wright State, 5-1, at Loyola Softball Park.
UIC (24-32) will play the winner between fourth-seeded Loyola and sixth-seeded Green Bay on Saturday, May 10 at 11 a.m. in the consolation bracket.
Whitney Orellana falls to 5-9 in the circle for the Flames. Sarah Clynes replaced Orellana in the bottom of the third inning, fanning four batters in 4.0 innings.
Kristen Bradshaw gave Wright State and an early 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a sacrifice fly deep to right center, allowing Jamie Perkins to cross home plate.
The Raiders attacked the following inning with a three-run homer from Perkins.
The Flames got two runners in scoring position in the top of the fourth, but were unable to scratch the scoreboard.
UIC tabbed its first run of the game on an RBI single down the left field line from Ashlee Ackerman with two outs in the top of the fifth, driving in Lauren Brennan.
Bradshaw regained a four-run lead for WSU in the sixth with her second RBI on the afternoon.
Sharon Palma earned the win in the circle for Wright State (31-24), improving her record to 16-9 overall.
