Box Score

Chicago, Ill.- The early-season offensive exploits of Baggio Husidic and Charlie Trout continued for the 11th-ranked UIC men's soccer team on Friday night, as both midfielders scored goals in the Flames' 2-0 victory over Princeton as part of the Chicago Classic at Flames Field.

UIC (5-0-1) kept its unbeaten record intact while extending its winning streak to five matches with the shutout of the Tigers (1-3-0).

In the 40th minute Husidic used his head to powerfully strike a ball dispensed to him by Trout on a corner kick, and the header hugged the net to give the home side a 1-0 advantage.

After a defensive battle for most of the second period, Alen Husidic dribbled up the right side in the 81st minute and sent a ball into the box that targeted the boot of Trout. The sophomore captain took control of the pass and briefly maneuvered to get a clear view of the frame, allowing him to easily blast a ball past the Tiger netminder for the second tally of the game.

"Some pretty impressive numbers out of our midfield," said UIC head coach John Trask after mentioning the 2008 goal totals of the younger Husidic (five) and Trout (four) through six contests.

Husidic kept his streak of recording at least one point in every match this season intact, while Trout has now either scored or assisted on a goal in five consecutive games.

Jovan Bubonja stopped four shots on goal while making a variety of key plays that successfully ended Princeton's attempts on the attack.

"He's a very special goalkeeper," Trask said of Bubonja. "It's a high level of goalkeeping, and it always has been. He and [center back] Robert [Younger] definitely earned the shutout tonight."

The Flames played in front of another fantastic home crowd, as 1,010 fans viewed the UIC victory on Friday. Many of the fans were clad in red to support the Flames as part of the the third annual RED OUT match.

UIC hosts the second leg of the Chicago Classic this Sunday against Loyola Marymount at 2 p.m. Central.
