Baggio Husidic Named Horizon League Player Of The Week

Sept. 29, 2008

Chicago, Ill.- UIC junior midfielder Baggio Husidic (Velika Kladusa, Bosnia/Libertyville H.S.) was named the Horizon League Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 28, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Husidic scored twice and assisted on two other goals during the Flames' wins over Cleveland State and Detroit over the weekend.

He tallied a pair of goals and nearly had a third in UIC's 5-0 win over the Vikings on Sept. 26. Husidic then set up both of the Flames' goals in a 2-0 victory over the Titans on Sept. 28.

Through nine matches Husidic has seven goals, four assists and a league-high 18 points.

Husidic's efforts over the weekend were also rewarded with his selection to College Soccer News' National Team of the Week.

This is the second time this season that Husidic has earned Horizon League Player of the Week recognition. He was named the first league Player of the Week of 2008 back on Sept. 1.

The sixth-ranked UIC men's soccer team takes on Marquette this Thursday night in Milwaukee, Wis. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
