CHICAGO - The UIC women's tennis team played a close battle with Iowa State on Saturday, eventually losing the match, 4-3.
The Flames (4-5) claimed the doubles point with victories at the first and second positions. Mariya Kovaleva and Kristen McPhillips continue their winnings ways, defeating Maria Fernanda Macedo and Marie-Christine Chartier, 9-7 at No. 1, while Ilinca Cristescu and Elena Antakova beat Erin Karonis and Kara Hickley, 8-5 in the second slot.
Singles saw Kovaleva and Jenna Reisch defeat their opponents at the second and sixth positions, but the match was decided by Cyclone tiebreaker wins at No. 3 and No. 4 for the ISU team victory.
UIC jumps back into action on Sunday against Drake at 9 a.m.
