UIC sports information intern and senior forward Jeremy Buttell checks in with his final report of his internship, breaking news on former teammate Josh Mayo's professional basketball locale next season.
CHICAGO- Former UIC guard Josh Mayo has found a place to call home next basketball season after the two-time All-Horizon League First Teamer signed a contract to play for the professional basketball club Stade Clermontois in France.
Mayo reports to camp in France this Thursday, August 13 and will not be back stateside until June.
"I'm excited to get over there and get going," said Mayo. "I'm looking forward to starting a new chapter in my life.
"I can't wait to see how they play in France," Mayo continued. "It's definitely a different style of the game. Hopefully I will learn a little French in the process."
Mayo is the second member of the Flames' 2009 class to sign a professional deal. Former teammate Scott VanderMeer signed with Swiss club BC Lugano in late July.
