CHICAGO - The UIC men's tennis squad wrapped up their abbreviated fall season this weekend at the Vredevelt Invitational, hosted by Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo.
Newcomer James Li bounced back in his singles flight after a close opening round loss to Illinois State's Filip Mijevic, 7-6 (4), 6-4 to win out in the consolation bracket, defeating host Western Michigan's Zeyad Montasser in a tiebreaker.
Gautham Oroskar and Rahul Kamath also made a strong appearance in their respective bracket, as Oroskar advanced to the consolation finals, while Kamath was bested by the eventual bracket champion from Cleveland State.
In doubles play, Oroskar and Kamath paired up to go 1-2 on the weekend, falling to a DePaul duo before defeating Jones and Perkins from foe CSU.
The Flames will retreat to the confines of their indoor courts in preparation for the 2011 campaign that begins in January.
