CHICAGO- UIC alum and United States National Team defender Jay DeMerit is featured in the June 7 issue of Sports Illustrated.

DeMerit and his fellow U.S. teammates are profiled by Grant Wahl in "All Americans," which highlights the former UIC star's "smarts and raw desire."

The issue contains SI's World Cup Preview and features three of DeMerit's U.S. teammates, Clint Dempsey, Landon Donovan and Tim Howard, on the cover.

This is not the first time that DeMerit has been featured in the national sports publication. His journey to English professional soccer was chronicled in the October 16, 2006 edition of Sports Illustrated.

DeMerit and the U.S. begin World Cup play against England on June 12.
