CHICAGO- The UIC men's basketball team will play BIG EAST powerhouse Pittsburgh in the Flames' opener of the 16th Annual Coaches vs. Cancer Classic, the Gazelle Group announced on Wednesday, June 9.
The contest between UIC and Pitt will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at the Peterson Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
That game will be the first-ever meeting between the Flames and the Panthers.
Pitt is coming off a season in which it finished 25-9 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament. The Panthers were ranked 18th in the final Associated Press Top 25 and 20th in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.
Matchups for subregional round games, held in Toledo, Ohio and Irvine, Calif., will be announced at a later date.
