CHICAGO - Eric Frazier and Ivan Stanisavljevic each scored goals, with Frazier tallying the game-winner in the 16th minute of the first half, leading the UIC men's soccer team to a convincing 2-0 win over Nebraska-Omaha in a non-conference match at Flames Field Sunday night.

With the win, the Flames improved to 7-3-3 on the season, while the Mavericks dropped to 1-9.

"We definitely created more chances (tonight)," said UIC head coach Sean Phillips. "Nebraska Omaha's goalkeeper deserves to be complicated, because he made a couple of very good, high-level saves in the first half to keep the score at 1-0. We've still got to do a little more work on our finishing. We did a better job of moving the ball from side-to-side, but for us to only come away with two goals on the amount of chances we had, shows that we need some improvement in that area."

Frazier put the Flames on the board at the 15:23 mark of the first half, playing a cross from sophomore Nermin Dautovic, and finishing low post to tally the eventual game-winner. Stanisavljevic added insurance in the 70th minute (69:43), capitalizing on a penalty kick that beat Nebraska-Omaha goalkeeper Josh Christensen.

UIC dominated statistically, boasting a 25-3 advantage in the shots department, including 12 shots-on-goal. Stanisavljevic attempted a game-high nine shots, with six on goal, while Joe Radice and Slobodan Aleksov each attempted three.

UIC goalkeeper Piotr Kikolski and senior net minder Taylor Kelliher combined to post the Flames' third shutout of the season, while Christensen played all 90 minutes for the Mavericks, turning away 10 shots. The Flames took five corner kicks.

"Defensively, I thought we did a better job of applying pressure," Phillips said. "Nebraska-Omaha has some dangerous, young players, and they created a couple of fires that our guys were able to put out, much better than they did Friday night against Cleveland State."

UIC will resume Horizon League play next Saturday (Oct. 22), when the Flames travel to the Motor City to take on Detroit beginning at 1 p.m. CST.
