DAYTON, Ohio - The UIC volleyball team (14-10/7-5 in the Horizon League) dropped to Wright State (4-21/3-9), 3-0 (16-25, 16-25, 23-25) Friday inside the C.J. McLin Gymnasium in Dayton, Ohio. Junior Kelsey Safranek(Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) led the Flames with 12 kills.
Sophomore Aubrey Sniegowski (Lemont, Ill./Lemont Township) hammered down six kills at (.267), while redshirt junior Janise Dismuke (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) also had six kills in the match at .333. Sara Sternard(Clarendon Hills, Ill./Westmont) added five kills on the night.
The UIC squad drop 16-25 in the first and second set, before rallying in the third set of the match. The Flames fought for their points and earned a three-point, which was propelled by a kill from Dismuke. Sniegowski had the second point of the run, while earning a block along with Sternard in the third point of the run to improve the score to gain a 12-10 lead.
Despite a two-point run near the end of the set, the UIC squad fell short in a 23-25 decision to drop the match in a 3-0 decision.
The Flames return to action Saturday in a match against Butler at 3:00 p.m. (CT) inside the Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Ind.
