Feb. 11, 2011

CHICAGO-The UIC men's tennis team welcomes Bradley University to the Hinsdale Racquet Club in Hinsdale, Ill., on Saturday, Feb. 12, beginning at 7 p.m.

UIC are coming into this match with three straight road matches, against some tough quality opponents. The Flames have an overall record of 1-5, and last Saturday, Feb. 5, they suffered a loss to the hands of Marquette University, 6-1, at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium in Milwaukee, Wis.

Freshman Alan Reifer recorded his second collegiate win for the Flames in singles, defeating Marquette's Otavio Perim in straight sets, 7-5, 6-4. In doubles action, freshman Alexander Raa and junior Dave Robare, defeated Marquette's Jose Carlos Crowley and Dan Mamalat, 8-7 (5).

"The flames will be sparked by the addition of team captain, junior Nate Kirk," said head coach Hans Neufeld. "Bradley is a tough Missouri Valley Conference team, and we are looking forward to our freshmen stepping up once again".

Bradley (2-2) is coming into this match, winning their home opener against IUPUI, 4-3, on Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 6). The Braves also defeated IUPUI's Summit League foe, IPFW, on Jan. 28, 5-2. The next day, on Jan. 29, the Braves traveled to take on host Michigan State, dropping the match, 7-0. On Jan. 30, they took on the University of Toledo, falling to the host, 4-3.

The previous year, the Flames took on Bradley at the Markin Tennis Courts in Peoria, Ill., defeating the Braves, 5-2.
