CHICAGO - The UIC men's and women's diving teams get set to host the UIC Diving Invitational on Saturday. Competition begins at 11 a.m. (CT) at the Flames Natatorium, when the women compete on the one meter and the men on the three meter, before the squads change on the boards and resume at 2 p.m. (CT).
The Flames welcome in competitors from UW-Milwaukee, University of Chicago, Illinois State, IIT, Wheaton College, Lincoln College and Augustana College.
Diving for the men's team is Mike Greco (Naperville, Ill./ Naperville Central), Woody Lord (Glenview, Ill./Glenbrook South) and Connor Howard (Homer Glen, Ill./Lockport Township East). Greco is coming off performances at Green Bay that led him to being named Horizon League Diver of the Week for Jan. 9-15. He scored 293.55 in the one meter and a season-best 323.40 in the three meter for first-place finishes.
On the women's side, divers include Whitney Johnson (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah), Kristi Carling (Brookfield, Ill./Lyons Township) and Jamie Krause (Hartland, Wis./Arrowhead). Johnson received the accolade of Horizon League Diver of the Week for Jan. 9-15 from her performances at Green Bay, as well. She scored 229.20 in the one meter for first place and 249.23 in the three meter for second.
