CHICAGO - The UIC men's tennis team (0-3) travels to Wisconsin for a Saturday afternoon meet against Marquette. Competition is set to begin at 1 p.m. (CT) at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium in Milwaukee.
The Flames return to action after going head-to-head with Chicago on Jan. 21. UIC was able to tally three wins in a combination of doubles and singles matches against the Maroons. The tandem of Maurizio Feoli and Alan Reifer captured the doubles win, while Nate Kirk and Rahul Kamath each captured singles wins against their respective opponents.
In No. 3 doubles, Feoli and Reifer kept up with Chicago's Krishna Ravella and Zsolt Szabo until the very end, where they defeated the Maroon's duo in a 9-8 decision.
Kirk battled with Szabo in the No. 4 position and was able to take the match in two sets, 7-6, 7-6. Kamath took Deepak Sabada to three sets, claiming the first 6-3, dropping the second 3-6, before coming out on top in the third to grab the victory 6-3.
Marquette is 1-1 on the season, after falling 7-0 to Minnesota and defeating IUPUI, 6-1. In season's past, the Golden Eagles have come out on top of the Flames, taking the last five straight. UIC last claimed the win in a 4-3 decision during the 2005-06 season.
