CHICAGO - Horizon League Indoor Champions Kellie Schuh and Ariel Kirby, along with men's track & field standouts Matt Zaluckyj and Sam Kehoe, will all head to the prestigious Alex Wilson Invitational in Notre Dame, Ind., Friday and Saturday. Schuh will compete in the Pole Vault, while Kirby and Zaluckyj will both take part in the 800-meter run. Kehoe will participate in the 3,000-meter run.

The two-day meet serves as one of the designated "last chance" meets in the country. The event gives student-athletes a final opportunity to qualify for the 2012 NCAA Indoor Championships.

Schuh recorded a dominant performance in the Pole Vault at last weekend's Horizon League Indoor Championships, taking home the individual title with a leap of 3.79 meters. Kirby, a junior newcomer, captured the individual title in the 800-meter run, crossing the finishing line in 2:12.50, more than 0.6 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.

Zaluckyj bested his own school record in the 800-meter run last weekend, finishing in 1:50.92, good for second-place in the field. Kehoe tallied a fourth-place finish in the 5,000 meter at the League championships, crossing the finishing line in 14:36.07

The signature event of the Alex Wilson Invitational is the 800-meter -- the half mile race is named in honor of Alex Wilson, a former three-time All-American runner at Notre Dame, who later coached the Irish from 1950-72. Wilson also won two Olympic medals (silver in the 800 meters, bronze in the 400 meters) for Canada at the 1932 Games in Los Angeles.
