INDIANAPOLIS - UIC men's tennis sophomore James Li was named to the All-League Second Team at the Horizon League Championship banquet on Friday evening.
Transitioning from No. 2 singles to No. 1, the Wheaton, Ill., native posted a 10-11 overall record this season, going 4-3 against conference opponents and capturing the most individual wins for the Flames.
Li was the lone member of the team to collect a win against a nationally ranked opponent. Going up against Marquette's No. 12 Otavio Perim at the USTA/ITA Midwest Regional, Li took the match to three sets and came out on top 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.
UIC's season ended on April 21, after collecting their second Horizon League win of the season with a 6-1 win over Valparaiso.
