Flames Advance To Championship After CSU Withdraws From Tournament

Nov. 15, 2013

CHICAGO – The Cleveland State men's soccer team has withdrawn from the 2013 Horizon League Championship after learning it used an ineligible player in Tuesday's first round win over Wright State.

"The NCAA soccer playing rules require a player who accumulates five yellow cards to sit out the next game," Cleveland State Director of Athletics John Parry said. "We inadvertently failed to follow that protocal. I apologize to all Horizon League members who have been affected by this in the past and future."

The Flames will face the winner of tonight’s 7 p.m. semifinal match between No. 2 Milwaukee and No. 3 Oakland in the Championship on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT at Flames Field.
