CHICAGO - Junior Natalie Hernandez paced the Flames as she was the lone UIC member to compile a multi-hit game. Top-seeded UIC dropped 1-0 to No. 5 Wright State Thursday at Flames Field. The team will now face third-seeded Valparaiso at 4:30 p.m., on Thursday.

In a game that was heavily defensive with UIC collecting five hits and Wright State with just four on the day, Hernandez had two hits, while senior Melissa Preish, freshman designated player Laura Swan and junior Courtney Heeley each chipped in with a hit a piece.

Senior pitcher Devin Miller pitched through the duration of the seven-inning game. She allowed four hits, one run and blanked five batters.

The Flames and Raiders played through six complete scoreless innings, before Wright State sent one run across in the top of the seventh inning from a sacrifice squeeze play. The lone run was just enough for the Raiders to defeat UIC 1-0.

With the loss, UIC now faces third-seeded Valparaiso at 4:30 p.m. at Flames Field with its respective season on the line.
