Final Stats ROCHESTER, Mich. - The UIC women's soccer team (2-12-0, 0-4-0 HL) fell 1-0 at Oakland (4-9-1, 2-2-0 HL) on Saturday night. Sophomore Alice Palmer scored the lone goal of the game for the Grizzlies, who outshot the Flames, 16-6.
Palmer's goal at the 12:36 mark was all Oakland would need to secure the match. The Grizzlies had eight shots reach goal to the Flames three. Freshmen Sydney Wright, Samantha Messina and Monica Ramirez all recorded attempts for UIC.
Freshman goalie Kelly Fritz saved eight shot attempts and leads the Horizon League in saves with 78. The Flames defense has shown tremendous improvement as of late, allowing just four goals in their past four games compared to 33 goals in their first 10 matches.
The team will be back on the road next Saturday for a match against Cleveland State. Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT.
