Men's Soccer Shuts Out Wisconsin , 1-0

April 21, 2014

CHICAGO - The UIC men's soccer team posted a 1-0 victory over Wisconsin this past Saturday (April 19) at the Dan McClimon Memorial Track/Soccer Complex in Madison, Wis. Redshirt-sophomore Zack Judickas scored his third goal of the spring in the first half to lift the Flames past the Badgers.

"We welcome every opportunity to play a quality program like Wisconsin," head coach Sean Phillips said. "We are still a fairly young team with only one rising senior and matches like these help us prepare for our fall schedule."

UIC was able to convert in the first half and score the lone goal of the game after junior Jesus Torres beat his player wide and served the ball into the penalty box, where freshman Rodrigo Salgado kept it alive and dished it to Judickas, who turned to finish at the near post.

"We continue to succeed in transition, defending in numbers and winning second balls," Phillips added. "However, we need to improve our ball movement and finishing so we can score that second goal."

The Flames will bring their spring schedule to a close this Saturday when they host Saint Louis at Flames Field beginning at 3:30 p.m. CT.

"We have to continue to challenge ourselves and Saint Louis will offer a great final test for the spring season."
