EVANSTON, Ill. - The UIC women's soccer team (0-3-0) suffered a 6-0 loss to Northwestern (2-1-0) Wednesday night at Lakeside Field. The Wildcats outshot the Flames 15-4.
Coming off a 1-0 win against No. 15 Marquette, the Wildcats proved themselves a tough team to beat by pulling out to a 4-0 lead at the half. Addie Steiner led Northwestern with three goals and seven shots, raising her goal total to four on the season.
Jasmin Carrera, Elena Bernstein, Cecilia Magos and Emily Wauer tabbed the four shots for UIC with the shots by Carrera, Magos and Wauer reaching goal. Carrera and Wauer are the only players to earn at least one shot in each of the Flames' three games thus far.
Goalie Annie DiCanio got her first minutes of the season for UIC and combined with starting goalkeeper Kelly Fritz to save three shots. Northwestern netminder Ali Herman took over for starting goalie Lauren Clem at the 68:35 mark and earned all three saves on the night.
Also scoring for the Wildcats were Niki Sebo, Rachel Zampa and Grace Orndorff. Michelle Manning, Jackie Alyinovich, Kim Jerantowski, Nandi Mehta and Jennifer Korn all earned assists for Northwestern.
The Flames will return home for a two-game homestead this weekend at Flames Field with matches against Morehead State and IUPUI. The contest against Morehead State is slated for 5:00 p.m. CT on Friday, while the game against IUPUI is set for Sunday at 4:00 p.m.
