Final Stats

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The UIC women's soccer team (1-6-0) dropped a 3-0 decision at Western Michigan (5-1-0) on Sunday afternoon. Goalkeeper Kelly Fritz saved a season-high 11 in the loss, while raising her season total to 34.

Western Michigan has proven itself defensively strong this season by shutting out each of their opponents with the exception of Michigan State, their only loss so far this season. The Broncos held the Flames to just two shots Sunday afternoon, with none reaching goal.

Junior Flo Beshiri and sophomore Mackenzie Fuller provided the two shots for UIC, who unfortunately could not capitalize offensively. Western Michigan compiled 23 shots on the afternoon, with 11 reaching goal.

The scoring began near the end of the first half at the 40:56 mark on a header off of Western Michigan junior Lindsey Lee as senior Diana Dedvukaj provided the assist. Senior Rachel Chaney scored her second goal of the season at the 70:13 mark with sophomore Olivia Vollmers taking the assist while sophomore Liz Abro kicked in the final goal for the Broncos at the 86:47 mark with sophomore Mackenzie Barber earning the helper.

UIC will return home to Flames Field for a two-game set against Saint Louis and Eastern Michigan next weekend. UIC will face Saint Louis on Friday, Sept. 19 at 7:30 p.m. CT and Eastern Michigan on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 1:00 p.m.
