CHICAGO - The UIC women's soccer team (1-8-0) dropped a 4-2 decision on Sunday against Eastern Michigan (4-2-1) at Flames Field. Freshman
Emily Wauer earned the first goal of her collegiate career while sophomore
Jasmin Carrera earned her fourth goal on the season.
Wauer's goal was the first of the match, coming at the 17:08 mark. She dribbled into the net from the right side with freshman Haley Kittle clinching the assist. Eastern Michigan responded with three unanswered goals within five minutes and went into the half leading 3-1.
The first goal for the Eagles came off the boot of senior Molli Krick at the 31:42 mark at the top of the 18 yard box with senior Bianca Rossi on the assist. Ellie Tillar was the next Eagle to score at the 33:38 mark off a pass from senior Marisa Kozikowski on the left side.
Senior Emily Dzik tallied the third goal for Eastern Michigan and her second of the season at the 36:15 mark with Krick on the assist to earn her third point of the day. UIC fought back to bring themselves within one at the 76:44 mark when Carrera took a pass from freshman Sydney Wright on the left side and sank the ball into the center of the net.
The Eagles sealed the deal at the 81:42 mark with an insurance goal on a header by redshirt junior Halle Kansman with sophomore Madison Hirsch taking the assist. Eastern Michigan finished the afternoon out-shooting the Flames 15-11.
Freshman Annie DiCanio played her first complete game between the posts and made three saves. Junior tender Megan McCabe got the win for the Eagles while also saving three.
UIC looks ahead to open up conference play on Wednesday, Sept. 24, with a road match against Milwaukee. Action is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. CT.
