MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The UIC women's soccer team (1-9-0, 0-1-0) fell 4-1 at Milwaukee (4-6-0, 1-0-0) on Wednesday night at Engelmann Stadium. Freshman Haley Kittle scored the first goal of her collegiate campaign in the Flames' first Horizon League match of the inaugural season.
The Panthers had a 4-0 lead going into the last 10 minutes of the game when Kittle struck at the 80:28 mark. Kittle took a midfield pass from sophomore Jasmin Carrera and found the net from the corner of the 18-yard box to score UIC's lone goal. Carrera earned her second helper in as many games and leads the Flames with 10 points.
Senior Krissy Dorre scored two goals for Milwaukee, the first coming at the 13:51 mark with senior Kelly Lewers earning the assist. Freshman Sydney Senn notched the second goal for the Panthers, an unassisted shot at the 40:01 mark.
The Dorre and Lewers duo struck again early in the second half at the 45:42 mark, with Dorre on the shot and Lewers again on the assist. Milwaukee's fourth and final goal came off the foot of freshman Cassidy Blanchard at the 57:48 mark with sophomore Maria Stephans taking the assist.
The Panthers outshot UIC 21-13, as both teams had nine shots reach goal. Freshman Mackenzie Fuller had a season high five shots, with three reaching goal.
Freshman Kelly Fritz got the start at keeper for the Flames and made five saves while allowing four. Sophomore tender Paige Lincicum made eight saves and allowed one in the goal for Milwaukee.
The team will now return home for a one game break from Horizon League play for a match against Loyola on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 4:00 p.m. CT at Flames Field.
