Final Results

CHICAGO - In their first meet since returning from break, the UIC swimming and diving programs both captured wins as they hosted Horizon League foe Green Bay Phoenix at Flames Natatorium on Saturday. The men won, 191-108, and the women defeated the Phoenix by a score of 164-136.

"To come right off of a training trip and pick up wins speaks volumes of where this team has gone from the beginning of the season," said Head Coach Tim Loeffler.

The men (2-4; 2-2 HL) earned a total of ten individual victories. Kei Ishimaru captured three of those in the 200 fly (1:52.49), 200 IM (1:55.80), and tied teammate Sebastian Ostrowski in the 100 fly (50.69). Ostrowski also earned a win in the 100 back (51.45).

Vincent Errichiello walked away with two victories coming in the 200 free (1:43.11) and 100 free (46.69). UIC finished one, two, and three in the 100 free with Mike Reed capturing second and Nicholas Kowaleski coming in third.

Ryota Kuwahara earned a win in the 1000 free (9:52.90) while Christian Grobe took home first in the 200 breast (2:04.23). Tanner Alms continues to impress in his freshman campaign as he grabbed a victory in the 500 free (4:40.74) while Mike Reed is ending his college career strong walking away with another win in the 50 free (21.40).

The women's team (3-3; 2-2 HL) was paced by Brianna Hines, who captured three victories. She touched the wall first in the 1000 free (10:29.80), 500 free (5:03.44), and 200 IM (2:09.32). In the 200 IM, Hines barely edged out teammate Claire Haggerty.

Erika Martinez earned two first place finishes of her own as she captured the 50 free (24.80) and 100 free (53.90). The Flames finished one, two, and three in the 100 free as Katherine Hare took second and Kelsey Millin captured third.

Sophia Shalabi continued her mastery of the breaststroke as she earned victories in the 100 breast (1:06.62) and 200 breast (2:22.53). Veronica Gibson took home a win in the 200 fly (2:06.50) while Jocelyn Langballe touched first in the 200 back (2:07.34) and Danel Voorhees finished first in the 100 fly (55.20).

UIC is back at the Flames Natatorium Saturday (Jan. 17) for a Horizon League dual against Valparaiso.
