CHICAGO - The UIC men's tennis team (1-3) faces off against No. 30 Northwestern (2-2) on Sunday (Feb. 1). Competition is scheduled to begin at 6 pm inside the Combe Tennis Center in Evanston.
The last time the Flames and Wildcats met (March 9, 2014), Carl Hedstrom competed at No. 3, falling to Mihir Kumar, 6-0, 6-3. Maurizio Feoli dropped his No. 5 match to Alex Pasareanu, 6-2, 6-0. In doubles competition, Hedstrom teamed up with Feoli at No. 1, but they were downed by Horoz and Kumar, 8-5.
The Flames are coming off of a 4-3 win against Wisconsin-Whitewater. Maurizio Feoli and Carl Hedstrom teamed up for a doubles victory while Mitch Granger won his team-high third singles match this season at the No. 5 position. Eric Pontow, Louis Theodor and Hedstrom also picked up singles victories.
