CHICAGO - FOX 32 aired a three-minute segment Monday night about the UIC student-athlete founded service program called
SPARK (
Students
Performing
Acts of
Random
Kindness). Created by UIC men's tennis player
Mitch Granger, SPARK's sole mission is to feed the homeless population of Chicago using money donated through friends, family and supporters of the cause.
Granger began SPARK in November of 2014 with a mere eight volunteers and limited funds to purchase food. Since then SPARK has exploded by more than quadrupling their volunteer staff with the help of several viral YouTube videos.
SPARK is currently accepting donations through
GoFundMe.com which has seen a dramatic increase in contributions since Granger's mission has gone public.
