Final Results

CHICAGO - The UIC women's tennis team (1-4) could not hold off Xavier (5-3) on Sunday as it suffered a 7-0 loss at XS Tennis. Junior Ann-Sophie Hahn and freshman Bianca Zuzu had each of their respective singles matches go to three sets.

The Musketeers collected the doubles point after Alex Brinker and Cristina Di Lorenzo defeated Zuzu and freshman Melika LeBlanc, 6-1, at No. 2, and Daniella Patton and Lauren Ghidotti took a 6-0 win at No. 3 against junior Jackie Altansarnai and Hahn.

Senior Keti Mebuke and sophomore Oana Manole had their match at No. 1 against Amina Ismail and Sydney Liggins go unfinished after the point was decided.

UIC was left without a win on the day as Xavier took control of singles. Mebuke (No. 1), Manole (No. 3) and LeBlanc (No. 6) were bested in straight sets by their opponents, while Altansarnai was retired at No. 2.

Hahn fought back at No. 4 against Di Lorenzo to secure the second set, but ultimately dropped a 10-6 decision in the final matchup. Zuzu came away with a first-set win at No. 5 against Ghidotti before falling 4-6, 6-2, 10-7.

The Flames return to XS Tennis next Sunday (Feb. 22) to host Southeast Missouri State at 11 a.m. CT in their third and final match in the month of February.
