CHICAGO - The UIC men's tennis team (2-7) will travel across town to take on the UChicago Maroons (5-2) on Saturday (Feb. 28). The match is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. (CT) inside XS Tennis. The Flames attempt to snap the Maroons three-match win streak.
The last time these two teams met on February 23, 2014, UIC defeated Chicago 4-2. Isaac Lloveras competed in the No. 3 spot and was victorious in straight sets. Christopher Cole competed against Ankur Bhargava and won in three sets, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Cole and Lloveras also teamed up at No. 2 doubles to record a win against Max Hawkins and Bhargava (8-6).
Granger currently leads the Flames with five wins in singles play and Carl Hedstrom and Louis Theodor are second with four wins this season. Lloveras and Theodor have paired up to record two wins in four attempts at the No. 1 doubles spot.
UIC dropped their match against IPFW last weekend, 4-3. The Flames picked up the doubles point as Lloveras/Hedstrom teamed up at the No. 1 spot to defeat their opponents, 7-0. At the No. 2 position, Maurizio Feoli and Louis Theodor defeated their opponents by a score of 6-2.
