YPSILANTI, Mich. -- The UIC women's soccer team (2-4-0) could not come back from its deficit as it fell to Eastern Michigan (2-3-1) on Sunday at Scicluna Field. All four goals in the match were scored in the first half, with Emi Yamamoto getting the Flames on the board in the 22nd minute.

"We conceded an early goal again which placed us in a difficult spot and allowed them to set the tone," head coach Brian Rigby said. "We were working hard but need to have longer moments of concentration during the match. There were times in the game where we did some very nice things but staying consistent is what we have to fix going into next week."

UIC was outshot, 13-9, in the match but had contributions from eight different players led by Emily Wauer with two. Wauer, Yamamoto, Olivia Everin and Jennifer Saviski each tabbed shots on goal for the Flames. The Eagles came out in the first half and scored their first goal in the third minute on a header by Kristin Nason. Three more shots came for EMU before Nason followed it up with another header in the 18th minute to go up 2-0.

Wauer had UIC's first attempt in the 21st minute with a header and Yamamoto came back a minute later with her first goal of the season to move within one.

The final goal of the game and by the Eagles came in the 41st minute as Chelsie Oddan sent in the goal. Saviski had the Flames last attempt of the half in the final 30 seconds resulting in a save.

UIC got off six attempts in the final 45 with Wauer forcing a save in the 70th minute and Everin taking the last shot in the 88th minute for a save. The Flames defense kept EMU to four shots in the half.

Kelly Fritz made four stops on the day while playing the full 90.

The Flames are back in Chicago on Friday to host Northern Iowa at 7 p.m. CT at Flames Field.
