CHICAGO- The UIC swimming and diving program completed their meet against Lincoln College on Saturday inside Flames Natatorium. The Flames were victorious in both the men and women's competitions with scores of 103-47 and 100-69, respectively.
Prior to the meet, the team honored their senior class for Senior Day. The seniors include: Veronica Gibson, Katherine Hare, Jocelyn Langballe, Danel Voorhees, Ramiro Almaraz, Brayden Amendola, Mark Ciesielski, Peter Errichiello, Christian Grobe, Kei Ishimaru, Ryota Kuwahara, Shaun Seuschek, and Rodolfo Zuniga.
"This senior class, no doubt in my mind, is one of the most decorated and accomplished classes in school history," said head coach Tim Loeffler. "What they accomplished over their four years has greatly set the program up for years to come. I can't thank them enough for the legacy they built."
In his final home meet, senior Kei Ishimaru posted a time of 1:53.52 in the 200 fly. Fellow seniors, Shaun Seuschek and Christian Grobe grabbed the top time in their event with Seuscheck clocking in with a time of 1:57.81 in the 200 IM while Grobe finished with a time of 2:06.61.
On the women's side, senior Veronica Gibson touched the wall in the 200 fly with a time of 2:11.18. In the 200 back, senior Jocelyn Langballe finished with a time of 2:07.21. Senior Danel Voorhees clocked in with a time of 2:15.77 in the 200 IM.
Junior Tyler Pastore set a career-high and qualified for the NCAA Zones in the 1-meter dive with a final score of 311.95. Pastore also set a career high in the 3-meter dive posting a score of 350.85. He qualified for the NCAA Zones in the 3-meter in last week's meet against Olivet Nazarene.
Sophomore Rachel Criscione led the Flames on the boards with scores of 267.75 in the 3-meter dive and 244.35 in the 1-meter dive.
The diving team will be in action on Feb. 6th for the UIC Diving Invitational inside Flames Natatorium. The full team will be back in the pool on Feb. 24th for the Horizon League Championships hosted by Oakland.
