CARSON, Calif. - LA Galaxy midfielder Baggio Husidic is about to realize his dream of international soccer.

The 29-year-old was named to Bosnia and Herzegovina's roster for the nation's upcoming friendly against Spain on May 29 and the Kirin Cup in Japan that will pit the Dragons against Denmark, Bulgaria and Japan in early June.

The call-up from head coach Mehmed Baždarevic came as a surprise to Husidic, who learned of the announcement from a text from his father. The details surrounding the call-up have not yet been finalized, but once they are, Husidic can begin his international career.

"We're just waiting for the final paperwork and the confirmation. Hopefully, things will get sorted out because it will obviously be a wonderful opportunity and a dream come true," Husidic, who is listed on the roster as a forward, told LA Galaxy Insider. "It'd be so sick. Playing Spain and playing in Japan would be so dope."

A native of Velika Kladuša, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Husidic left the country in 1993 amid a vicious civil war, but now after a lifetime away from Bosnia, Husidic is ecstatic about the prospect of representing his homeland.

"It's the biggest honor that you can get as a footballer to play for your national team. Obviously, I was born and raised there, and it's a country that I represent. I'm looking forward to things being finalized and seeing what happens in the future.
