CHICAGO –
The UIC women's soccer team (1-5-2) gets its Horizon League slate underway on Friday when it heads to Milwaukee to take on the Panthers (3-3-2) at 7 p.m. CT at Engelmann Stadium. The Flames will then turn around to host Chicago State (1-5-0) in a non-conference tilt at Flames Field on Sunday at 4 p.m.

UIC took its longest trip in its three years as a program when it headed to Flagstaff, Ariz., over the weekend to compete in the NAU Mountain Classic. The Flames were narrowly defeated by host Northern Arizona, 1-0, before they suffered a 4-0 loss to Grand Canyon.

The Flames sit with five goals on the year scored by Emily Wauer (2), Rebeca Pallo (2) and Jennifer Novak, while they have added six assists led by Olivia Everin (3), good for second among conference players. Of UIC's 75 shots, Wauer owns 17 and has put 13 on goal for a .765 shots-on-goal percentage, as Pallo is the only other player in double figures with 13 shot attempts.

Kelly Fritz has gotten the start for the Flames in the last three games as she has made 15 saves and owns a 1.65 goals-against-average, which places her in a tie for sixth in the Horizon League. Annie DiCanio has also earned significant minutes in goal, making 21 stops and garnering a 1.81 goals-against-average.

In the all-time series with Milwaukee, UIC has come up short in its two matches, falling 4-1 in 2014 and 1-0 last season. Sunday's match with Chicago State will be the first-ever meeting against the Cougars.

Milwaukee is coming off a 0-1-1 weekend where it took a 1-1 tie with Marquette and a 1-0 loss against Iowa State, while it is set to face off with Chicago State on Wednesday. The Panthers picked up two wins in their first two games of the season against Akron, 1-0, and Northern Illinois, 3-1, before defeating Western Illinois, 4-0.

The scoring effort for Milwaukee this season has been driven by Maria Stephans (3G, 2A), Anna Smalley (2G, 3A) and Callie O'Donnell (3G), who have all but three of the team's goals. The trio has additionally added a combined 34 of the Panthers' 92 shots, with Stephans putting a team-high seven on goal.

Mallory Geurts has been the primary goalkeeper for Milwaukee, making the third-most saves in the Horizon League with 33 for the top goals-against-average mark of 0.86.

Chicago State has lost its last three games heading into Milwaukee Wednesday night after falling to Eastern Illinois, 2-1, Oakland, 5-0, and Indiana State, 7-0. The lone win on the season came at home in a 3-2 decision against Saint Xavier.

Of the Cougars six goals, three have been scored by Mariela Alba, while Madison Berg and Alejandra Alonso have added two helpers apiece. Taylor Ranklin leads in shots with 14, followed by Alba with 12, as the pair each own eight shots on goal.

Gabby Klemp (2.29 GAA) and Audra Wisehart (6.61 GAA) have shared the goal, with Klemp getting five of the starts, and have combined for 43 saves with 22 from Klemp and 21 from Wisehart.
