Jose Fuentes has been named the Horizon League Offensive Player of the Week for Sept. 19-25, the conference office announced on Monday. It is the second such honor of Fuentes' career after her collected the accolade as a freshman.

The Flames had a 2-0 output last week after capturing a 3-2 non-conference win at home over Drake (Sept. 20) and securing a 1-0 victory at Green Bay (Sept. 24) to improve to 2-1-0 in the Horizon League. Through the two games, Fuentes had a five-point output with two goals and on assist.

Against the Bulldogs, Fuentes scored the first goal of the game and came back to assist on
Abel Guzman's game-winning goal. He put up two shots in the match and had both reach on goal.

Fuentes was the difference maker against the Phoenix as he scored the lone goal for the game-winner, marking his third goal of the season. He additionally produced four shots in the game that matched his career high and put two of those attempts on goal.

The Chicago, Ill., native is one of UIC's top offensive producers this season as he owns three goals and one assist for seven points, along with 16 shots and seven on goal.

Fuentes and the Flames will hit the pitch Saturday at Flames Field to face Horizon League foe Northern Kentucky at 7 p.m. CT.
