CHICAGO –
The UIC women's soccer team (1-3-2) will make its longest trip as a program this weekend when it heads out west to Arizona for the NAU Mountain Classic at Lumberjack Stadium in Flagstaff. The Flames will first go up against host Northern Arizona (1-4-0) on Friday at 10 p.m. CT and then face Grand Canyon (2-4-0) on Sunday at 1 p.m. to close out the trip.

UIC spent time on the road and at home over the weekend but could not find the scoring to lift the team to victory as it dropped a 3-1 decision at SIUE and was narrowly edged by Baylor, 1-0, at Flames Field. Emily Wauer scored the lone goal on the weekend, with Paige Proctor earning the assist. Annie DiCanio played a majority of the minutes in goal as Kelly Fritz earned her first start of the year versus the Bears.

The Flames have put up five goals so far this season with Wauer (2), Rebeca Pallo (2) and Jennifer Novak leading the team, as Olivia Everin owns three of the team's six assists. Wauer additionally boasts a team-high 16 shots and has put 13 on goal for a .812 shots-on-goal percentage, as she also ranks 40th in the nation with 2.2 shots on goal per game.

DiCanio has played all but 103 minutes in goal this season and has made 20 saves while maintaining a 1.70 goals-against-average. Fritz has made three stops in 58 minutes and Tara Khayam has additionally made one save in 45 minutes of play.

In addition to this being the first trip that requires UIC to fly, it will be the first time the Flames take on the Lumberjacks and the Antelopes.

Northern Arizona hosts the two-day tournament after suffering a 5-0 loss to UIC's Sunday opponent in Grand Canyon. In their lone win of the season, the Lumberjacks took a 1-0 victory over New Mexico State, a team the Flames defeated, 4-1, back on Aug. 28.

NAU has been outscored, 14-4, on the year with goals from Mei-Te Coco, Adrian Mixt, Malia Lyken and Anna Goebel, with Lindsay Doyle and Victoria Cooper adding the two assists. Of the 55 shots, Coco and Doyle have contributed a team-high seven, while a total of 20 players have contributed to the total. Meghan Dickmann and Lauren Cooper have split time between the posts, with Dickmann garnering 14 saves to Cooper's four.

Grand Canyon carried a two-game winning streak into the weekend after defeating NAU, 5-0, and Northern Colorado, 1-0, as the team is positioned to face New Mexico on Friday.

The Antelopes have produced nine goals so far, led by Milla Beneditti, Rachel Mina and Madison Cox with two each, as Beneditti has also added two helpers. With Grand Canyon outshooting opponents, 79-68, Beneditti (24) and McKenzie Cook (13) are the only players with more than 10 shots, with Beneditti owning 12 on goal. Blakely Fraasch has played every minute in goal and made 17 saves while posting a 1.49 goals-against-average.
