Milwaukee, Wis. - The UIC track and field teams wrapped up their second meet of the indoor season on Saturday at the John Tierney Classic hosted by the University of Milwaukee. The dual meet featured teams from Milwaukee, Loyola, Chicago State and Marquette.
In the end the Flames captured hardware in several field events. On the men's side junior
Christian Saporiti won shot with a toss of 15.61 meters, the second best throw of his career. Freshman
Larnell Brown finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 14.10 meters that currently ranks third in the Horizon League.
"I am impressed by Larnell's early season performances," said head coach
Gabe Rivera. "He has already shown he is one of the best Triple Jumpers in our conference."
On the women's side, senior Lizzie Deutsch (10:23.86) and sophomore Allison Hansen (10:28.45) finished third and fifth respectively in the 3000 meter run. Deutsch improved her career time in the event by 16 seconds which currently ranks her fourth in the Horizon League.
"I truly appreciate the effort she [Lizzie] has given, her hard work is starting to pay off," said Rivera.
In the women's weight throw senior Desirae Ranberg placed 5th with a toss of 14.51 meters.
