Mike Lints Open Results
Allendale, Mich. - UIC track athlete
Shaun Wollenweber hopped, skipped and jumped to the top of the UIC record books in the triple jump event Saturday at the Mike Lints Open hosted by Grand Valley State University. The junior from Plano, Ill. shattered the school record with a jump of 50 feet and a one half inch, breaking a 38-year old mark set by Leighton Linton (49-08.5) back in 1978.Â
Wollenweber also competed in the long jump finishing with a leap of 6.66 meters, good enough for fifth place.
"Shaun is an amazingly calm athlete who never backs down from a challenge," said
Gabe Rivera, head coach. "The event field was very competitive and he rose to the occasion this evening."Â
