CHICAGO – The UIC women's volleyball team (13-8, 4-4 HL) was bested by the Horizon League's newest member, IUPUI (10-11, 6-2 HL), by a score of 3-2 (16-25, 25-18, 23-25, 25-23, 11-15) on Saturday afternoon in the Flames Athletic Center. The Flames dug out 93 as a team, their highest mark of the season, despite the 3-2 setback.
How It Happened
- Set One: The Flames were held to a clip of .024 in the first set, which allowed the Jaguars to pull out to a 1-0 lead with a 25-16 first set victory.
- Set Two: The second set began with a 7-2 lead for UIC, thanks to three kills from Kyisha Hunt, a kill from Manuela Conte and a pair of aces from server Alex Drosopoulou.
- Set Two: Leading 19-13, a pair of UIC errors gave way to a three-point streak for the visitors, who came within three, 19-16.
- Set Two: A pair of kills from Hunt and a ball handling error from IUPUI extended the Flames lead to six, 22-16. The Jaguars were only able to chip in two more before UIC closed out set two with a 25-18 win by way of kills from Hunt, Conte, and Drosopoulou.
- Set Three: The third frame was the closest contest of the afternoon, with neither team owning a lead of more than three throughout the set. The Jaguars held a three-point lead at match point, 24-21, as Conte came to the rescue to keep the Flames alive, 24-22. An IUPUI error put the Flames back within one, 24-23, but a Jaguar kill gave IUPUI the frame, 25-23.
- Set Four: Trailing 19-17, the Flames rattled off six straight to come back and take the lead, 23-19. Hunt, Drosopoulou and Ali Witt were each featured in the rally.
- Set Four: IUPUI retaliated with four straight, but Hunt and Drosopoulou recorded the final two points of the match to end it in favor of the Flames, 25-23, and force a tiebreaker.
- Set Five: The Jaguars started the tiebreaker with a 4-1 lead, and never looked back, eventually taking the frame 15-11 to complete their 3-2 win.

- The match featured a total of 25 tie scores and 13 lead changes between the five sets.
- Hunt paced UIC's offense with 22 kills, and matched her career-high dig mark with seven.
- Conte recorded 17 kills and 16 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Her 17 kills were a career-high mark.
- Setter Nicole Johnson also earned a double-double, her third of the season, recording 54 assists and 14 digs.
- Drosopoulou notched two career-highs into her record books on Saturday, knocking in a career-best 14 kills alongside a personal-best three service aces.
- Libero Carla Salavato finished the afternoon with a match-high 23 digs.
