CHICAGO – On Monday, July 10, UIC Athletics held its seventh annual Executive Golf Outing at beautiful Ivanhoe Club in Mundelein, Ill. The day on the links is designed to raise money that bolsters the department's overall scholarship fund and Monday's outing brought in more than $100,000 for current and future Flames.

Several notable names were in attendance in support of the Flames, including former UIC Vice Chancellor for Administrative Services Mark Donovan. A loyal supporter of UIC Athletics, Donovan announced his retirement earlier this year following nearly 33 years of outstanding service on campus. Flames' Athletic Director
Jim Schmidt, who will formally retire himself on July 31, was also on hand along with Athletic Board members Al Ronan, Ed Swietek of Kroeschell, Inc., Jim McGlynn, Sr., of McWilliams Electric Company, and Keith Melaragno of Pepsi.
Â
Other notable attendees included UIC alums such as 2017 Hall of Fame inductee Tom Cisar and former baseball standout and outing sponsor Carlos Chillon of State Farm Insurance. UIC head coaches
Mat Blair (women's golf) and
Mike Dee (baseball) also participated. Dee addressed the group, which included 18 foursomes, regarding his team's unprecedented success in 2017, and how the generosity of those in attendance helps him, and the department's other coaches, to build programs that are able to compete at a high level on a national stage.
