CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team will make the short trip north for the Wildcat Invite hosted by Northwestern. Competition will begin on Friday and end on Sunday and will feature competitors from Northwestern, Marquette, Notre Dame, Montana, Florida State, Pittsburgh, Michigan, Michigan State, Chicago State, DePaul, UIC, Utah, Kentucky and Lewis. Competition is set to get underway at
9 a.m. CT Friday,
10 a.m. Saturday and
9 a.m. Sunday at the Vandy Christie Tennis Center.
At their own invitational this past weekend, the Flames came away with 11 singles victories and eight doubles victories across two days of play.
Georgie Sanders and
Lejla Colic were awarded the co-doubles champions alongside Chicago State's Mariya Kotsyuk and Iesha Shephard.
Last year's Wildcat Invite saw the Flames take five singles and five doubles victories.
Miranda Rodriguez Diaz de Leon took ownership of five of those victories, recording two in singles and three in doubles play alongside partner and former Flame
Oana Manole.
The Flames will have a brief intermission from tournament play following the Wildcat Invite before heading to Ann Arbor, Mich. For the USTA/ITA Midwest Regionals on Oct. 12-15.
