PEORIA, Ill. -- UIC concluded the regular season Friday afternoon by running in the Bradley Pink Classic at Newman Golf Course in downstate Peoria. On the men's side, the Flames finished 27
th out of 33 squads, while the women's team ran 31
st out of 39 teams.
"There is no way to sugarcoat it and today wasn't our day," said UIC head coach
Ashley Lucas. "Lucky for us we can step away from the course, learn from this experience and regroup before conference in a few weeks."
UIC had three runners participate in the open race which started the slate.
Mitch Deamantopulos and
Tom Brennan represented the men's team and Maddie Larock ran for the women.
The meet continued with the women's Red Race, a 6K run around the course. Allison Hansen netted the top time for the Flames, 21:55.2. Following less than a minute behind Hansen was Sahian Lopez in 22:52.3.
The men's Red Race, an 8K event, concluded the slate.
Carlos Cabrera paced UIC for the second straight meet, clocking a time of 25:55.
Walmer Saavedra trailed Cabrera by 10 seconds Friday.

The Flames were turn their attention toward the Horizon League Championship on Oct. 27. UIC will host the meet at the Wayne Dannehl Cross Country Course on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.
