CHICAGO – The UIC volleyball team (12-8, 5-2 HL) sealed the deal on its third-straight victory on Friday evening with a 3-1 (24-26, 25-17, 25-20, 25-22) win over Oakland (6-12, 2-5 HL). The Flames buckled down after giving the Golden Grizzlies the comeback win in set one, taking the next three sets to come away with the win.

  • Set Three: With UIC locked at set point with a ten-point lead, 24-14, the Golden Grizzlies went on a 6-0 run to threaten the Flames. A battle at the net between Marija Borcic and an Oakland defender ended with the ball hitting the floor on Oakland's side, finally put UIC over the edge, 25-20.
  • Set Four: The fourth frame was the closest battle throughout, and with the set tied at 19, the Flames went on a 5-1 streak to reach match point, 24-20. Oakland grabbed a pair off a kill and a UIC error, 24-22, but the next serve went into the net to give the Flames the 25-22 victory.
