CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team swept the University of Illinois Springfield on Friday afternoon, 7-0. The Flames took all six singles points in straight sets and swept doubles for the seventh point.
DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS
Rachel Le Comber and
Georgia Gulin got things started for the Flames in doubles, shutting out UIS's Kena Bere and Nethra Thenappan, 6-0.
Lucie Prochazkova and
Karyna Bihel followed, defeating Neha Mokhasi and Ashley Long, 6-2.
Georgie Sanders and
Nell Arendt completed the sweep with a 6-2 win against Long and Steph Reynolds.
SINGLES HIGHLIGHTS
Rachel Le Comber was victorious over Steph Reynolds, 6-0, 6-1 at No. 5 to start singles.
Viktoria Seifert kept the momentum strong, blanking Kaitlyn Thornhill, 6-0, 6-0 from No. 6.
Lucie Prochazkova defeated Ashley Long, 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 to secure the win, and
Karyna Bihel took down Maegan Flight at No. 2, 6-2, 6-1.
Georgia Gulin competed at No. 4 and bested Nethra Thenappan, 6-0, 6-3, while
Georgie Sanders brought ohme a win over Kena Bere, 6-1, 6-2. An additional match was played between
Nell Arendt and Hannah Blythe, which had Arendt landing on top, 6-1, 6-1.
