CHICAGO – The UIC volleyball team (15-11, 8-5 HL) was swept up by Horizon League foe Northern Kentucky (17-8, 9-5 HL) Friday afternoon inside the Flames Athletic Center. The Flames tallied their lowest kill total of the season in conference play, recording just 39 kills against a well-rounded effort from the Norse. The Flames celebrated the careers of seniors

Match Highlights
- Set One: The opening set started close until a 3-0 streak for the Flames put them ahead 13-8.
- Set One: A 7-0 run culminating in three-straight service aces allowed the Norse to take over the lead, 17-16.
- Set One: Tied at 18, Northern Kentucky used three kills and two UIC errors to take a 23-18 lead. A pair of blocks and an Emily Kelly termination put the Flames within a pair, 23-21, but the set ended shortly after, 25-22, in favor of the Norse.
- Set Two: An early four-point surge had the Norse ahead 8-4, leaving the Flames with work to do.
- Set Two: The Norse pulled further ahead 17-11 after a three-point run, but UIC caught up at the 21-point mark after a 9-2 series.
- Set Two: Northern Kentucky took the next two, but the Flames took the following three, 24-23.
- Set Two: Trailing by one, 26-25, the Norse took three straight to fend off the Flames for good, 28-26.
- Set Three: Northern Kentucky sped off to an early 9-3 lead, but UIC was once again able to catch up, tying the set at 13.
- Set Three: A 5-1 run for the Norse put them ahead 18-14, and the Flames would only come as close as two, 21-19, before Northern Kentucky polished off set three, 25-20.
Facts & Figures
- Paola Santiago led UIC's offensive efforts with 11 kills. The freshman also added nine digs, one dig shy of a double-double.
- Kiera James finished the night with nine kills. Clara Lamb recorded six, while Michelle Glover brought in five.
- Manuela Conte paced the defense with 22 digs. Despite the result, the Flames were able to out-dig the Norse, 74-65. Velina Minkova also turned in a double-digit dig effort with 10 digs.
- The Flames also out-blocked Northern Kentucky, 10.5-6. Ali Witt, Lamb, Glover and Santiago all finished the match with three blocks apiece.
