Women’s Tennis Defeated by Marquette, 6-1

Flames secure doubles point, but fall in singles play

MILWAUKEE – The UIC women's tennis team (0-2) took a 6-1 loss to Marquette (2-3) on Sunday inside the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. The Flames took two of three doubles matches to secure the doubles point, but were unable to find a victory against the Golden Eagles in singles play.

  • Georgie Sanders fell 6-3, 6-4 to Natalija Popvic at No. 1, while Lejla Colic took a 6-1, 6-3 loss to Paula Tormos Sanchez in the No. 2 position.
  • Melika LeBlanc competed at No. 3, but was defeated 6-3, 6-1 by the Golden Eagles's Melica Novakovic.
  • Amelia Guevremont took on Isabella Franks in the No. 4 spot, but was taken down 6-4, 6-1.
  • Rachel Le Comber edged out Andrea Amortegui in the first set, 7-6, but then dropped the next two, 6-2, 10-8 in the No. 5 position.
  • Miranda Rodriguez Diaz de Leon competed No. 6, and fell to Lesley Foe, 6-4, 6-3.
