HOMEWOOD, Ill. – The UIC women's tennis team (1-2) captured its first win of the dual season with a dominating 6-1 victory over nearby Chicago State (2-7) on Tuesday morning. The Flames swept all three doubles matches for the doubles point and went on to take five singles victories, four of which came in straight sets.

Doubles Highlights

• Viktoria Seifert and Stefana Vasic got things going for UIC with a 6-2 win in doubles play against Chicago State's Katarina Drazic and Mariya Kostyuk. It was the tandem's first doubles victory of the dual season in the No. 3 position.  
• Melika LeBlanc and Rachel Le Comber followed it up with a 6-3 victory versus Lorea Gamboa and Leshia Gadacz. The tandem is 2-0 in its past two matches, both of which have been played in the No. 2 position.
• Georgie Sanders combined with Lejla Colic to complete the doubles sweep, taking down Iesha Shephard and Anastasi Goncharova, 6-3, from the No. 1 spot. The pair is undefeated in the dual season, with two of their three wins coming from the No. 1 position.

Singles Highlights

• Lejla Colic moved up to No. 1 for the first time this season, and defeated Mariya Kostyuk, 6-3, 6-1.
• Melika LeBlanc also won in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, from the No. 2 spot, taking down Chicago State's Lorea Gamboa.
• Rachel Le Comber secured the win for the Flames with a 6-2, 6-1 straight set victory over Iesha Shepherd in the No. 4 spot.
• Bianca Zuzu stepped up next and fell to Katarina Drazic, 6-3, 6-4, in the No. 6 position.
• Viktoria Seifert dropped her first set to Anastasi Goncharova, 6-4, but went on to take the next two 7-5, 10-8 for a win at No. 5.
• Amelia Guevremont was closely matched with Leshia Gadacz at No. 3, but Guevremont landed on top by a final score of 7-5, 6-4.
