Women’s Tennis Dominates Cardinal Stritch, 6-1

Flames take 5-of-6 singles matches in straight sets

CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (2-3) took a convincing 6-1 win against Cardinal Stritch (2-2) on Thursday morning at XS Tennis. The Flames swept the Wolves in doubles play for the doubles point, while also taking 5-of-6 singles matches in straight sets.

  • Melika LeBlanc broke open singles action in the No. 2 position with a straight-set win over Lisa Keller, 6-1, 6-0.
  • Rachel Le Comber took down Livia Hollosy also in straight sets, 6-1, 6-2 at No. 4.
  • Stefana Vasic secured the win for the Flames from the No. 6 spot, blanking Kimberly Tait 6-0 in the first set and following it up with a 7-5 win in the second set.
  • Viktoria Seifert recorded a straight-set victory of her own at No. 5, defeating Chelsea Kelly 6-3, 6-1.
  • Georgie Sanders competed in the No. 1 spot for the Flames, besting Antonia Elze definitively 6-1, 6-1.
  • Amelia Guevremont wrapped up the dual at No. 3, and was bested by Cardinal Stritch's Luise Gruber in three sets, 0-6, 6-4, 10-7.
