Women’s Tennis Sweeps Illinois State, 7-0

Flames secure three-game homestand sweep

CHICAGO – The UIC women's tennis team (4-3) blanked Illinois State (9-5) by a final score of 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at XS Tennis. The Flames completed their first shutout of the season while capturing their third-straight win to sweep the three-game homestand.

  • Rachel Le Comber took down Laura Fitzgerald in straight sets to open singles play, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5.
  • Georgie Sanders also bested her opponent in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2 over Jana Kustkova in the No. 2 spot.
  • Melika LeBlanc fought back after a first set loss to take the next two, securing the win for the Flames, taking down Ivon Mihaleva 5-7, 6-2, 10-3.
  • Lejla Colic competed at No. 1 and also overcame a loss in set one to earn the point versus Veronika Golanova, 5-7, 6-3, 10-4.
  • Amelia Guevremont went back and forth with Illinois State's Vanthier and ended up taking the tiebreaker set for the win, 6-2, 4-6, 10-7.
