UIC falls to Northern Illinois and Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The UIC softball team (10-6) had its six-game win streak draw to a close on Friday after taking a pair of losses in the first day of the Hoosier Classic. Skylee James also had a pair of RBIs, thanks to her double against the Hoosiers. James leads the Flames with four doubles this season.

  • A double and single put runners on the corners for NIU, and an attempt to steal second led to a throwing error for the Flames, allowing the Huskies' Alaynie Wollard to score from third for a 1-0 lead.
  • The Flames responded in their own half of the inning, starting with Wedl and Alyssa Griman knocking back-to-back singles with one out. • The top of the fifth saw the Huskies put runners on first and second with one out, as Allie Trudeau was brought in to relieve Marley Hanlon. NIU's Dominique Greeno singled to score one, and another Huskie crossed the plate on a fielder's choice. NIU simultaneously stole second and home, scoring a third to take a 4-2 lead.
  • UIC was held without a hit from that point on, allowing the Huskies to come away with the 4-2 win.
